Notes on higher-dimensional tarai functions

چکیده
0. Introduction I. Takeuchi defined the following recursive function, called the tarai function, in [5]. t(x, y, z) = if x ≤ y then y else t(t(x− 1, y, z), t(y − 1, z, x), t(z − 1, x, y)) This function requires many recursive calls even for small x, y, and z, so it is used to see how effectively the programming language implementation handles recursive calls. In [3], J. McCarthy proved that this recursion terminates without call-by-need and t can be computed in the following way. t(x, y, z) = if x ≤ y then y else if y ≤ z then z else x

The termination of the higher-dimensional tarai functions
We prove that for every integer n ≥ 3, the n-dimensional tarai function, proposed by D. Knuth, terminates with call-by-need. The proof is formalized by Coq.
متن کاملSome notes on the characterization of two dimensional skew cyclic codes
A natural generalization of two dimensional cyclic code ($T{TDC}$) is two dimensional skew cyclic code. It is well-known that there is a correspondence between two dimensional skew cyclic codes and left ideals of the quotient ring $R_n:=F[x,y;rho,theta]/_l$. In this paper we characterize the left ideals of the ring $R_n$ with two methods and find the generator matrix for two dimensional s...
متن کاملNotes on some Distance-Based Invariants for 2-Dimensional Square and Comb Lattices
We present explicit formulae for the eccentric connectivity index and Wiener index of 2-dimensional square and comb lattices with open ends. The formulae for these indices of 2-dimensional square lattices with ends closed at themselves are also derived. The index for closed ends case divided by the same index for open ends case in the limit N →&infin defines a novel quantity we call compression...
متن کاملConservation status of Ramsar sites of Nepal Tarai : an overview
Nepal houses only inland freshwater wetlands, ranging from floodplains of snow-melt-fed cold Himalayan rivers, warm rivers originating in the mid hills, high altitudinal glacial lakes to hot springs, ponds, ox-bow lakes, marshes and swamps. These wetlands support several endemic and globally threatened species of flora and fauna. Besides, wetland sites have significant recreational, religio-cul...
متن کاملLectures on Zeta Functions over Finite Fields
These are the notes from the summer school in Göttingen sponsored by NATO Advanced Study Institute on Higher-Dimensional Geometry over Finite Fields that took place in 2007. The aim was to give a short introduction on zeta functions over finite fields, focusing on moment zeta functions and zeta functions of affine toric hypersurfaces. Along the way, both concrete examples and open problems are ...
